Compress images

Make images smaller for email, websites and uploads. Compression runs on your device, so even private photos stay private.

Your images are converted on your device and never uploaded.

    How to compress images

    1. Add your images by clicking the box above or dragging them in.
    2. Lower the quality slider (70% is a good start) and optionally set a max width.
    3. Check the new size next to each file and download the results.

How much can I shrink my images?

Photos straight from a phone or camera are usually far larger than they need to be. Re-encoding them at 70–80% quality typically cuts the file size by 50–80% with no difference you can see on screen.

For even smaller files, set a maximum width. A 4000-pixel-wide photo resized to 1600 pixels is still sharp on any screen and often ten times smaller. Choosing WebP as the output format saves another 25–35%.

    Frequently asked questions

Is it free to compress images?

Yes. You can compress images for free, 5 images at a time, with no sign-up and no watermark. Pro removes the batch limit, handles larger files and lets you download everything as one ZIP.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Pixverter runs entirely in your browser. Your images are processed on your own device and never leave it, which makes it safe for private photos and confidential documents.

Does it work on Windows, Mac, iPhone and Android?

Yes. Pixverter works in any modern browser (Chrome, Edge, Safari, Firefox) on desktop and mobile. There is nothing to install.

    Does compressing reduce image quality?

Slightly, but at 70–85% quality the change is not visible for normal viewing. You can preview each result and re-run with a higher quality setting if needed.
