How to compress JPG images
- Add your images by clicking the box above or dragging them in.
- Lower the quality slider (70% is a good start) and optionally set a max width.
- Check the new size next to each file and download the results.
How much can I shrink my images?
Photos straight from a phone or camera are usually far larger than they need to be. Re-encoding them at 70–80% quality typically cuts the file size by 50–80% with no difference you can see on screen.
For even smaller files, set a maximum width. A 4000-pixel-wide photo resized to 1600 pixels is still sharp on any screen and often ten times smaller. Choosing WebP as the output format saves another 25–35%.
Good to know
- If an image is already well compressed and can't get smaller, Pixverter keeps the original instead of making it bigger.
- Choose WebP output for the smallest files when the image is going on a website.

Frequently asked questions
Is it free to compress JPG files?
Yes. You can compress JPG files for free, 5 images at a time, with no sign-up and no watermark. Pro removes the batch limit, handles larger files and lets you download everything as one ZIP.
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Pixverter runs entirely in your browser. Your images are processed on your own device and never leave it, which makes it safe for private photos and confidential documents.
Does it work on Windows, Mac, iPhone and Android?
Yes. Pixverter works in any modern browser (Chrome, Edge, Safari, Firefox) on desktop and mobile. There is nothing to install.
Does compressing reduce image quality?
Slightly, but at 70–85% quality the change is not visible for normal viewing. You can preview each result and re-run with a higher quality setting if needed.
