How to convert HEIC to JPG on Windows
- Copy the HEIC photos from your iPhone to your PC (or open the folder they are in).
- Drag the files into the box above, or click it and select them.
- Download the JPG files. They open in every Windows app, website and email.
Why Windows can't open HEIC files
HEIC is Apple's default photo format. It uses the HEVC (H.265) codec, and Windows does not include a decoder for it out of the box. To open HEIC files natively, Windows 10 and 11 need two extensions from the Microsoft Store: "HEIF Image Extensions" and "HEVC Video Extensions". The HEVC one is a paid download on most PCs.
Even with the extensions installed, many programs (older Photoshop versions, Office, upload forms, online stores) still reject HEIC. Converting to JPG is the reliable fix: every app on every PC understands JPG.
Other ways to convert on Windows
- Photos app: with the HEIF and HEVC extensions installed, open the image, choose "Save as" and pick JPG. This works for one photo at a time.
- Paint: also needs the extensions. Open the photo, then File → Save as → JPEG picture.
- Pixverter (this page): no extensions, no install, and it converts whole folders at once.
Stop the problem at the source
On your iPhone, go to Settings → Photos and under "Transfer to Mac or PC" choose Automatic. iOS then converts photos to JPG when you copy them over a cable. To make the camera shoot JPG from now on, choose Settings → Camera → Formats → Most Compatible (photos will take more space on the phone).

Frequently asked questions
Is it free to convert HEIC to JPG on Windows with Pixverter?
Yes. Convert up to 5 photos at a time for free, with no watermark and no sign-up. Pro converts unlimited batches and downloads them as one ZIP.
Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
No. Pixverter processes every image inside your browser, on your own device. Nothing is sent to a server, so it is safe for personal photos and documents.
Do I need the HEVC extension from the Microsoft Store?
No. Pixverter decodes HEIC with its own decoder inside the browser, so it works on any Windows PC with Chrome, Edge or Firefox.
Will the JPG keep the original quality?
At the default 90% quality the JPG looks identical to the original. Move the slider to 100% if you need maximum fidelity, or lower it to make smaller files.
